In countries where corruption is high and the women are beautiful, the beauty pageants are a much awaited event. Local beuty queens earn the status of celebrities, and national beauty queens use their crowns to gain leverage to bolster their status in society. Look at Imelda Marcos.

So is it any wonder that Filipinos are glued to their sets during the a) Binibining Pilipinas and b) Miss Universe beauty pageants? It's practically a holiday for swishy gays, who mark their calendars, hold sleepovers, and call in sick, just to watch the Miss Universe pageants.


You've probably seen this video already. Especially the 2:17 mark.

The beauty of it is that it's all sooo queenie. First of all, who would film themselves watching a TV show to preserve their actions for posterity? Drama queens, that's who. But thank God because we've caught the most hilarious Miss Universe reaction ever that actually probably happened in every pink bedroom in the Philippines.

Then they gotta go ruin it by making a buck off it.



Well, I wouldn't turn down a wad of money thrown at my feet either.
